Abstract
Comparing and contrasting the four artists, it is possible to see how the fashion industry is using artists to create compelling and communicative works. The works by Aldridge and Hogben are aesthetically pleasing through the use of visual and auditory attractions. Both of these artists create works for the fashion industry and while the works are for commercial use, they do have communicative mannerisms. The production of their artworks is in conjunction with the industry's goal of selling a fantasy (lifestyle or ideals) and ultimately selling fashion garments and accessories. Kaufman and Hollomon's works contrast from the works by Aldridge and Hogben in that they are fashion related works that are not meant to inspire fantasy and elicit the purchasing of merchandise. Kaufman and Hollomon are using fashion items as a manner of critiquing the world around them and even critiquing the fashion industry and how our world reacts to the industry. With theatricality the communication of images these four contemporary artists present become favorable and captivate the viewer. The images become desirable and a following is started.
