Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to research senior programs provided by New York City museums and examine their programs. This paper also aims to study and analyze the Rubin Museum's current senior programs and to develop a senior program proposal targeting museums. This paper will not aim to research the museum's building facilities for seniors nor address the museum's building facilities or technical assistance such as mobile applications. Rather, it will discuss how the Rubin Museum's ongoing senior programs are conducted and how the program could be developed further. Also, it will focus on the context of the program and how the museum operates and develops its program. The discussion will include how the program for seniors will work for the museum, the community, and senior citizens at large. Finally, this paper will propose amendments to the Rubin Museum's program, with consideration to the programs of other local midsize museums, based on the successes and challenges of the museums' current programs.
